Francesco Bagnaia (Sky Racing Team VR46) sliced to the top in FP1 at the Gran Premio Red Bull de España, putting in an ominous run of laps to end the session just under two tenths quicker than former Jerez winner in the class Sam Lowes (Swiss Innovative Investors), despite both suffering their respective moments. Romano Fenati (Marinelli Snipers Team), after some solid preseason pace but a tough start to the season, stole third right at the end – pushing 2017 winner Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) down to P4. Fenati’s first race win, in Moto3™, came at Jerez.
